Chalet apartment to rent in Praz-sur-Arly, Megève, France
The Summerfield/McLures early in the 2014/15 Ski season, skiing on the Combe Noire Piste past our apartment in the Chalet Le Chanteret (just behind the Large Chalet on the left) heading for the kid’s lesson at the bottom of the pistes.
Snow came just in time for the start of the season but is a bit thin. The weather, however, was perfect.
Thanks so much to Nicki & Giles for the wonderful coffee machine they have given to the apartment as a gift (above next to the sound system). Now you can bring along you favourite Nespresso-compatible capsules for a quicker caffeine hit.
Our friends came back from Praz this season raving about a wonderful new restaurant up in the mountain with the most spectacular view. We understand it near the border of Praz and Notre Dame de Bellecombe but we’ve yet to formally place it. From reports of how busy it is, I wonder if they’re hinding on purpose.
On the latest ski map there does seem to be a restaurant just below the top of the Lac chairlift which could be it.

Tragically the 34/24 season was K-Bane’s last, as the property has been removed to make way for major developments at the base of the pistes which may never happen. RIP you will be missed
K-Bane, pronounced “Cabin,” was one of the the most exciting additions to Praz when it opened a couple of years ago. Run by a Dutch couple and at the base of the pistes in Praz, replacing a basic shack, this funky restaurant is a great place to stop for lunch if your on the Praz side of the ski-area. But watch out it can get busy during the main holidays.
Their soup de maison is a favourite of ours but all the food is as good as the atmosphere and there are daily specials which often go down well with my crowd.
It’s also open during the summer season.
After a very mild Autumn it looks like the first snows of the season came down last night (and killed a fly).
A new ski area, adding 3 new pistes and a new 6-man chairlift, is opening this year in the Espace Diamant, just at the edge of the Praz sur Arly ski area and marks the first step to a connection with the Domaine Evasion Mont Blanc ski area which includes Megeve and Les Contamines.
The new Bellasta lift joins the top of the Plan des Four chair lift which can be taken from the bottom of Les Crozats run which is the piste which runs from 3 Coins in Praz sur Arly into neighbouring Notre Dame de Bellecombe.
According to the site here – which lists all the proposed enhancements in the Espace Diamant – this is the first step in the long talked about link to Megeve. The final phase – as yet unplanned – links Bellasta to Plan Mermin Prés Rosset Megeve.
That may be some time off but even this new extensions on the doorstep of Praz extends the local skiing possibilities in the 2014/15 Season
