Covered Parking

It’s difficult (although certainly not impossible) to come to Praz sur Arly without a car but where do you put it?

All apartments are assigned parking spaces and the neighbors can get a bit funny if you occupy theirs. Sometimes there may be space in front of the building but this is limited and not ideal in cold weather, so best to park in the underground garage.

Our space is the enclosed garage nearest the entrance to the underground garage. To enter the garage you will need to retrieve the entry remote from the cabinet draw in the living room of the apartment. So, once you’ve unloaded at the front, grab it to put the car away. The remote on the blue lanyard also has a key for opening our own garage door.

Don’t forget to lock it when you leave and put the keys back in the cabinet drawer in the apartment.

Not all Génépi is the Same!

I’ve grown fond of Génépi – a local Savoyard liqueur infused with a mountain herb. Sweet, a little perfumy – yes – but it’s a great digestive. Nothing cuts through a fondu like it. But, as I have discovered today, you need to be beware what you buy. Bought a bottle for 11euro (on the right, below) in the local Sherpa – yellow (not golden) watery and artificial, yuck! The one on the left was 19euro and the genuine article. You probably get what you pay for. Best bet is to try them in the deli in Praz.

Childcare in Praz

Got a little-one under 4 and want to hit the slopes? Well, the great news is there’s a creche in town, very near the Emonet ski hire and very reasonable value. They will also feed the kids.

Garderie touristique et garde d’enfants

We put Woody in there on our first couple of ski trips and while they spoke very little English there were incredibly helpful and friendly and Woody has quite fond memories (despite only eating the yoghurt).
