Paragliding in Megève and Praz-sur-Arly

For those with great courage, Paragliding (or Parapente in French) is an activity that has been growing in popularity in the French Alps, in both the Summer and Winter season. In the Summer especially, when there is less risk of landing on someone, the skies in the area are dotted with colourful canopies drifting and spinning on the updrafts.

You can learn to paraglide in both Megève and Praz-sur-Arly, taking off from the Rochbrune and Ban Rouge peaks respectively.

Childcare in Praz

Got a little-one under 4 and want to hit the slopes? Well, the great news is there’s a creche in town, very near the Emonet ski hire and very reasonable value. They will also feed the kids.

Garderie touristique et garde d’enfants

We put Woody in there on our first couple of ski trips and while they spoke very little English there were incredibly helpful and friendly and Woody has quite fond memories (despite only eating the yoghurt).

Drive to the Rochebrune Lift in Megève

It takes around 15 mins to drive from the Chalet Le Chanteret to the Rochebrune telecabin which takes you up to 1754m, right  into the heart of extensive and well-serviced Evasion Mont Blanc ski area.

We recommend driving via Cassioz to avoid the centre of town. There is parking right by the lift.

Our preferred is Emonet Sport. It’s not the closest or the cheapest but it is well stocked, high quality and very friendly service.  They changed hands in 2018 but I’m glad to say the new owners are as lovely as the former.

They can also deliver to the apartment if need be.

You can book direct of via Ski Set – keep an eye out for discount codes.
